2025 Art Trail Event
Event Type: Open Studio

I will relocate some of my Westgate production pottery studio facilities across to Isitt Rd and create a mini studio for the day. Here I will demonstrate various forms of hand-building as well as be producing dailyware items using the pottery wheel. People will be able to see the pottery items in their various production stages, through to the final glazing and completion.

Address: 1 Issit Road, Hobsonville Point
Wheelchair accessible venue
What started out as a vague interest more than a decade ago has now developed into a production pottery business based at Westgate. If you are not careful, playing with clay can go from “an interest” to “an obsession”, through to “a way of life”. This is what happened to me and has resulted in the creation of Stables Pottery. At Stables, I get to create functional pottery that is intended to be both pleasing on the eye and a joy to feel and use.
The disciplined repetition of production hand-built pottery is surprisingly satisfactory. Through continuously working with clay, I have learned to trust my hands and my own sense of form and design. Each day the techniques, skills and forms develop and improve. It’s true what they say – “we never stop learning”
