About the Artists
Roberta Queiroga
Roberta Queiroga’s work is created through a symbiotic relationship between herself and the canvas, allowing her raw emotions to flow spontaneously with minimal interference during the creative process.
Born in Brazil, Roberta has lived abroad for over 20 years, and her identity, as well as her artistic practice, is deeply influenced by the diverse places, cultures, and people she has encountered, including those in Japan, Portugal, and Aotearoa New Zealand. With a background in architecture, she is particularly interested in the relationship between the artwork, the viewer, and the surrounding space.
Coral Noel Yang
Coral Noel Yang, an Auckland-based contemporary painter, specializes in abstract and floral art using acrylic, blending Soak-Stain techniques with Asian water-ink traditions. Her vibrant and layered works exude luminous hues and expressive marks, drawing inspiration from Aotearoa’s landscapes and florals, her 15 years of global filmmaking experience, and her Chinese-Japanese heritage. Enthralled by the unpredictable beauty of fluidity, she navigates between intuitive material play and meticulous design, crafting layers adorned with water marks, organic shapes, and whimsical brushstrokes. Her paintings capture nature’s essence intertwined with human emotions, evoking a profound sense of wonder and belonging, resonating both locally and internationally.
